Lovebytes is a cultural festival for the digital age. A season of extraordinary events taking place at some of Sheffield's landmark venues and public spaces.
The climax to our 2010 festival programme is Pocket Universe a feast of digital activity for all the family at the Winter Garden and Millennium Gallery on the 13 June. This is a brand new event as part of the Children's Festival offering a wide range of exciting creative activities and workshops running throughout the day. All the events are free, family friendly and open to anyone.
Lovebytes explores the creative impact of computers, new technology and digital culture. Our theme for 2010 is 'digital craft'; looking at creative digital culture in the context of traditional art and craft. Exhibitions include Code:Craft at the Museums Sheffield:Millennium Gallery which forms the hub for a programme of special events between January and June. The exhibition opened on the 12th of February as part of Sonic Materialities, an evening of spectacular sound and light installations in the Winter Garden and the Millennium Gallery.
Running alongside our main exhibitions are a wide range of workshops and creative technology projects which explore the processes involved in creating digital and interactive art. For the last few months we have been working with over 1,000 Sheffield school children making an interactive installation called Flutter which will be shown at the Sheffield Children's Festival.
